I've been mulling it over for awhile and I've decided this is far too crazy for me to feel comfortable talking about at this time. I believe it was a mistake to make this post in the first place. I believe it may have been a mistake joining Skeptiko at all. I think I was just fed up with never being able to talk seriously and openly about anything I've experienced and I jumped in recklessly. But realistically, it's all far too crazy, even for most other implementers and experiencers apparently. I don't see how it can do anything but hurt me in the long run by sharing it.

I will be deleting all my responses in this thread and won't be starting another until such time as I have results I am happy with. Even then I doubt I will do so on an internet forum. Whether I stay on Skeptiko at all is stil undecided. If I do it may only be in a lurker status. I imagine for some people that will be a relief.

I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time.

Some practical information would be good. What is your exact process for "astral travel", OBE or whatever term you have given it. Process information as opposed to metaphysical theory. What different kinds of non-physical reality areas have you seen. Types. What kind of environment did you see there? Descriptions.

I'm probably going to end up repeatedly editing this first post over and over again.
That makes things difficult for the rest of us. I suppose we could keep a copy of a previous version and then run a file compare to detect which text has changed. But an ongoing dialogue in separate posts is much easier to follow.

Yup. No one will know what the edits are. This isn't a wiki.

Mediochre,

I think it might be better if you wrote this section by section, making each section as clear as possible. Could you start by describing what experiences you had which lead you into the very idea that you could perform magic.

Then I suggest you describe what exactly you can achieve - even if it is intermittent - rather than plunge into a lot of theory.

You use a lot of expressions like 'Inertial Density' that don't make a lot of sense to me.

Mediochre,

Thanks, that reply begins to put some flesh on what you are telling us. The fact that one of your skills was recognised by a martial arts expert was interesting.

However there was this paragraph:

Then when I was 23 I ended up losing all of it because I overloaded my body trying to do something with magic that my body straight up couldn't handle at the time and nearly killed myself in the process. I destroyed pretty much all of my chakra network and only had patchy areas in my right arm and my head remaining functional. Completely destroyed the heart chakra and everything below it was practically the same. All of that is an entire story in and of itself but it goes outside of the scope of this comment for the moment. I lost my ability to recharge energy, which slowly atrophied everything I'd developed up until that point over the next year. Started trying to get out of the resulting depression and begin the physical recovery when I was 26 and now at age 29 I've regained a little of that sensing ability.

I mean, you talk as if you could debug your chakra network with a multimeter or something?

Up until that point you hadn't discussed magic as such (I think). Where did the magic come from - did you decide to follow an occult book?

What do you mean when you refer to "ability to recharge energy"?

When you flip switches in electronics, can you choose what you want to happen - e.g. cause a PC to reboot, or make the mouse to move, or do you just jinx the hardware?

How did you find a girlfriend that is into all this stuff, and how exactly did she get into it?

It's also another argument against learning projection, it seems that as soon as you genuinely break out into another realm you show up on people's radar and that can attract attention to you that you may not like. You might start getting a lot more paranormal things happening around your house or you in general. Some of it might just be friendly people curious about the newbie. Others might be creatures who see you as a food source. Others might be people who want to manipulate you for any number of reasons. Others might be people wanting to help you or teach you useful things just because. You never really know until it happens so it pays to keep yourself safe just in case.
I call bullshit. This is the same lecture that was used by the church and other gate-keepers to stop people from exploring the internal landscape. It flies in the face of what I and hundreds of other people have expressed about what I think now may be best termed (again) "soul travel."

Technically yes I can choose what I want to happen but I learned through jinxing hardware. The first time I did it I turned the clock radio on at my parents house from another house. All I had to do was connect teh circuit that would normally close from pressing the on toggle but without pressing the toggle. My current successes are limnited to small things like that. I have however gotten a machine at a place my girlfriend once worked to print out a paper that it can only programmatically print out when certain functions are input. I don't want to go into detail of exactly what the machine was or anything but sufficed to say, it should not have been able to do that and she told me to please not mess with that machine again because if I had triggered a certain other function in it instead there would've been some major problems. For that all I did was close the circuit that would trigger said function to run, bypassing the normal programmed requirements. Although I don't quite remember if I actually knew right not if I knew what that circuit was or if I was just poking around until something happened which I did for a couple other things which I almost broke as a result. Which was also why she told me to stop messing with the machines. I don't practice this hardly at all so I'm pretty terrible at it.
Would you be able to do this to any computer belonging to someone you know? I hesitate to suggest this, but could you do it to one of my computers (we would have to agree which computer and when exactly this was to happen). Merely activating the beep mechanism at about the right time would be adequate! Alternatively, I wear a very cheap watch, so I wouldn't even mind losing that in such an experiment.

BTW, I am not trying to push you - it may be that you can't do this, but I would be mightily impressed if you could - but we need to arrange the details beforehand!

I don't know if this is the thread for it but I know I've been warned to never astral travel because of the dangers, not because of the "church or other gatekeepers"?

Precisely. I kinda fell into it by accident and didn't have much of a choice afterwards but from that expereince I would say it's not for everyone. It's not bad or inherently dangerous in and of itself and there can be great value gained from doing it. However I felt it would be irresponsible to list a basic method to get people started without also listing potential dangers that they may encounter.
It has been a long time now since I experimented with "astral travel". I did try to induce what I called an out-of-body-experience at one stage of my life. Initially I was frustrated by lack of success, but eventually I learned how to get into the necessary state, though the actual occurrences were spontaneous rather than fully controlled. After a while I started to realise that I was getting deeply into something of which I knew nothing, and I had no guide or mentor, this was before the internet, my only information came from library books. Nothing bad or scary ever happened but I began to see I was getting into something which might present dangers, so I gradually stopped my attempts, though still had occasional spontaneous occurrences.

Reminds me of a story I heard second-hand -> A guy who noted that he once found himself drifting out from his body, silver cord and all. But there was a dark shape in the room with him, in the corner. As he rose the shape approached his still sleeping body, getting closer and closer until he decided not to chance it and went back into his flesh.

Need to check with my friend for whom the guy was a co-worker. IIRC dude was from Philippines and hadn't heard much about Astral Travel. Guy's wife was also a seer though apparently there were so many spirits of the wandering dead in this world she was told by a shaman to forcibly close her third eye. She did see beautiful fairies near a garden - not sure how to feel about that given, again IIRC, the little women with wings was a modern invention?

It was an interesting read.

A question about 'poltergeisting' - how did you come up to these experiences, did you try to induce them deliberately or 'just happened'? Have you read any books about it (e.g. I remember that Draja Mickaharic has some books where he mentions OBE in which he becomes a poltergeist-like shadow figure and could rearrange physical objects). I myself have experienced OBEs in which people do notice my presence, turn towards me but can't see me and I can't affect anything physically. Additionally, during the OBEs my intellect is not fully functioning and it seems my out-of-body 'persona' has a bit of a mind of its own, although "I" am the experiencer (then the "I" becomes not my real physical body, neither the second body, but some transcendental I-state which compromises of both my bodies).

Have you considered taking one of the dozens of courses already out there? You could try Tai Chi or Qi Gong, there's the Quareia course which comes to mind, the IOT has its own training regimen as well.

Don't worry about having a hard time explaining yourself, its threads like this that are how people get good at articulation in the first place.

There's a great series of descriptions about feeling and moving energy in the 'Mastering Astral Projection in 90 Days' book by Robert Bruce. Its described as a kind of warmth, tingling, heavy feeling and one is instructed to go through several steps in order to master the feeling such as imagining running a paint brush up and down your hand and capturing the feeling of the bristles.

So, LetsEat reminded me that there are already lot's of other sources of information on the basics of how to feel and manipulate energy and thus I don't really need to care about covering that. This fits in very nicely with my goal of tailoriong this information towards those who already have a desire to attain such abilities and are already actively working towards doing that in their own way. This will make things much easier for me to explain.

I already do Kung Fu and was working with energy years before that. I walked in the door of the studio capable of teaching blackbelts certain things about energy they didn't already know. I know this because I went and did it. It was incredibly cool to hand a few concepts and simple exercises to a 3rd degree blackbelt as a yellow belt and watch as their mind is blown on the spot as they try it. I have yet to actually learn anything new myself from what I've been taught of the Dragon system or told about in private. At best what I have learned is that I know what I'm talking about.

However, the energy breathing system they utilize is far superior to mine in terms of teaching someone who doesn't know anything about anything about energy. In particular, two meditations that are so refined that you can literally take someone off the street, get them to do the meditation, and then that person can start to feel and manipulate their own chi.

The only difference is that the teaching of that school focuses almost exclusively on internal, healing uses of chi. There are combative uses but they too focus on keeping your energy inside of your body and using it to augment yourself, At least so far as I have seen. I've been told about higher level techniques that sound like they transfer energy through touch, or "insert the mind into the body" as I was told, into an opponent but I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to talk about those. My goals and my expereince focuses on external, physical uses of chi.

Previously in this thread I discussed the alleged possibility of some past life stuff regarding this. Although I fully recognize that I have no evidence of any possible claims for anything like that that I can show to another person, and I recognize that memory is not a very good empirical measure of anything, I cannot deny that I believe the claims made are at least possibly true if not likely true because of the ridiculous amount and types of paranormal things that have happened throughout this life. Pretty much all of my knowledge that I've been operating on comes from those alleged expereinces.

So I'm going to stop acting like that's not the case and just talk a lot more openly about past life stuff within reason as crazy as that may be. I'm not going to shove it down anyone's throat and I'm not going to expect anyone to believe me but I am going to reference it from time to time. Generally in the format of "in the past the explanation of X was Y" or similar. I'm trying to test these memories myself anyways. The stuff that's new to this life is largely astral projection and shared dreams. There was never much reason to learn or refine such skills in the past so I never really bothered. I still see little practical use for them in this life compared to the alternatives and would prefer not to focus on them if possible.

No idea when I'll post again but I'll always try answering questions.

You're perfectly welcome to share your experiences on this forum, in fact I believe its encouraged. Several of our members talk about the NDE's they've had as an example.
