Dark Matter found?

OK, so short answer: No. I'm interested to know where these excess positrons came from no doubt, and maybe it is hint of "dark matter", but we are incredibly ignorant of what dark matter even is. It's a WIMP, sure, but that answers very little. To speculate that dark matter, (that does not even interact with the EM spectrum!) has any relationship to positrons as we know them seems arbitrary. I like how the quoted scientist says "Dark Matter is there". OK...and this guy is not the equivalent of a religious fundamentalist how? Perhaps there is no DM, but instead something like Modified Newtonian Dynamics (aka MOND) working at very large scales -- which is actually quite revolutionary. People who insist on something like DM, and make these bold proclamations, even if it turns out to be true, are being silly.

This is an instance where I agree with the status quo view. "Dark matter is there". You left out the other part of his statement - "we just don't know what it is." What it is may turn out to be very different than what is expected. It's even possible that it may not be what is having the primary or sole effect on gravity. As for the comparison to religion - yes that is often true of current scientists. However in this case I think it is more applicable to those who do their best to deny "dark matter." Those are the one's clinging to the established canon and have a reactionary to things that upset the apple cart. IOW the staunch materialists. Like those who seek to show that classical mechanics explains all.

"Dark matter" and "dark energy" is one translation of what many who aren't bound by the precepts of materialism are already aware of.

The reason why people prefer classical mechanics is because it's easier to stomach. Despite it being essentially proved to be false or limited. Local realism continues to reign supreme.

Hell it's hard for me too.

You're making the common mistake of assigning motives willy-nilly. Sure, it seems a given that there are people who do have that reason. But it's far from the only one. I'd guess that many who "prefer" classical mechanics also "prefer" materialism. ;)

All matter dark, white, solid, liquid, black...is visible when you are at the corresponding vibration. When you are not, it is not.

I find men who use babies as avatars extremely offensive however I will not be putting you on my Ignore List since that is my belief that I need to address as you need to address your negative misrepresentations of the light reflections of my avatar in this illusory world.

It doesn't offend me. It just freaks me out whenever I see it - especially I catch it out of the corner of my eye! It is quite unpleasant to look at!

Dunno ... picking up similar vibrations between you two and maybe another new entry that likes eels.
Maybe just a recent case of morphic resonance in choosing surreal avatars.

Oh, well we're not the same person. For example, one difference is I'm actually funny. I don't create satirical characters either.

I also don't sockpuppet. Just to recap:
P.J.
Bro
Formal Dining Room Set
Juicy Fruit Jackson Junior
Former Dining Room Set

I found Mac's avatar scary but I didn't want to say anything because I thought it might have a recent picture of himself. In the United (just about) Kingdom of Great Britain even if such a character is sitting opposite on our bus to work, we don't say anything other than what lovely weather we're having or would you like a lemon bonbon ?

But this is a bit different... while you don't get to choose your face, you do with avatars, no? :)
Anyways, must come and visit. I love lemon bonbons :)

Well I was 99.9 per cent certain it wasn't his face but I just didn't want to take anything for granted and cause embarrassment. Many years ago I congratulated a woman on her pregnancy and her impressive bump only to be told by her that she wasn't pregnant and had some kind of horrible prolapse or something (Dr Shit for brains would know I think ) I think she would have told me to shove my lemon bonbons up my rear end .
