Lawrence krauss on bill maher show Nde's

This is from 2013 so I'm not sure if anyone here posted this video. What was amazing here is the total ignorance when it came to current knowledge of Nde's from the nde literature . I can understand maher being totally ignorant but when I heard krauss referring to Nde's as being caused by a lack of oxygen. He's a friking scientist . I almost called him lawrence churchland by mistake lol.

I lost most of my respect for Bill Maher when he had Sam Harris on, and both of them dissed Muslims. It was an interesting show, as Ben Affleck was on the show that day as well - and he was pretty sharp with Harris and Maher for their obvious bigotry toward Muslims.

This show confirms how ignorant Maher is, and how misinformed. I haven't watched him since Ben Affleck, and I'm glad I haven't.

My Best,
Bertha

This show just confirms just how ignorant Maher is, and how misinformed. I haven't watched him since Ben Affleck, and I'm glad I haven't.

My impression is that Bill Maher takes the same approach with all religions. He does ask fair questions sometimes - I liked Religulous, but basically he is taking the p really.

He is ignorant regarding spirituality and NDE research. He has a teenage view of both, and mocks both as a juvenile with barely a high school education would.

I don't think his opinion on religion or much else matters to me. I do find his observations amusing sometimes. He is certainly not in a minority expressing strong opinions on things he knows nothing about.

Except his anti-Muslim rhetoric I find inflammatory given his public leverage and the Syrian and other Mid-East wars taking place right now. Not all Muslims are extremists.

It's a common view unfortunately. One can replace the word Muslim with almost any other segment of society one doesn't like. I don't know how much real leverage he has tbh.

I'm not sure his views will alter the view of other people though of course those who already agree will seize on them. Of course not all Muslims are extremists.I expect such people are a tiny minority.

Glad you agree. We are living in some dangerous times right now. World War III is not as far fetched as I once might have thought. :( And that will likely be the last war our species (as we know it) will ever have.

Yes sometimes I despair to be honest. There is so much potential for goodness and kindness and for some reason one group or another always seem to put their own needs ahead of everyone else's. Perhaps it's in our nature to.

Bill Maher frequently comes across as a moron when discussing issues like this. He seems to take the "You're an idiot, I don't have to listen to your side as I already have all the answers, fellow skeptics and athiests please blow smoke up my ass to reassure me"

Yea maher deems himself as an intellectual , but he seems to be mostly a sensationalist . It's a shame that his fan base hasn't caught up to this simple fact
I agree. I'm a bit sad though, as I used to really enjoy his humour and the way he would skewer the neo-cons. But I just can't stomach his obvious intolerance for Muslims or even religion. I don't belong to any denominational faith myself, but I sure am not ready to write off reality as some kind of nihilistic mechanical universe the atheists so fervently want us to believe these days. I can (somewhat) understand and tolerate people who want to believe there is no real purpose to the universe (except the meaning we give it) but I'm not about to support some kind of holy atheistic war against muslims.

Bill Mahr, and HBO has a philosophical/political axe to grind. Mahr has always been antagonist to "spiritual" issues...it's no surprise he has guests like these on. They are firebrands...they get people talking. I just ignore them...
