What exactly do you believe NDEs demonstrate?

The hallucinations and other brain havoc caused by severe stress, along with after-the-fact interpretation of that havoc.

Note that regardless of what the NDE is, after-the-fact interpretation plays a huge role in the descriptions of NDEs.

The point is to provoke "critical discussions among proponents and skeptics" (which happens to be the title of this particular subforum).

No, the point appears to be the "reheating" of topics discussed ages ago, its tedious to come back expecting something new and find that you have flooded the forum again with these old discussions... And worse yet, that P.A.L.M. has lured some poor unsuspecting soul into one of their endless circular arguments. There is a search function up there for a reason, kindly learn how to use it.

As the most recent, it certainly seemed like the most convenient to post my inquiry. I do, however, understand from your past posts that you prefer to stay in an ambiguous stance and question other people. So I can understand why you would feel discomfort when the questions are directed at you.

You asked me to explain to you what is the point of my questions. I believe I have clearly explained that to you. If you do not find my threads worth your while, then I suggest you find another one to amuse yourself with. Or, better yet, start one of your own.

Clearly, I don't or otherwise my posts would be all over them. I posted once to test your response and got some ambiguous question that had little to do with my reply. I am actually more concerned about the people that keep falling into these old bait threads and flooding the forum.

All subjective experiences are subject to subjective interpretation.

I suggest you take your concerns to one of the administrators. As far as I can see, I have not violated any forum rule.

I also wonder about the point of all these "question" threads. Maybe you should ease up a bit on them? *(but then, I have no authority in the matter)

For the record: I think it highly likely that NDEs have the "smell" of incorporeal consciousness about them. The key is probably not to fall into the trap of taking everything that happens in them literally. The fact that Aunt Maisie claims to be living in a Little House on the Astral Prairie, doesn't mean we can just dismiss it all.

As I've mentioned before, the notion that NDEs make survival of consciousness less likely rather than more...would probably be the most far fetched thing one could possibly say about them.

We just have to be careful that we don't conclude that some interpretation of a NDE experience describes an actual afterlife realm or event.

~~ Paul
What if in the near death experience one receives the information or communication (somehow) that "this is an afterlife realm", if the NDEr returns thinking "this was an afterlife realm", is this still an interpretation of the near death experience, or is it part of the experience?
