Are NDEs Pinned to Religions or World Views?

I know this subject has been touched on many times on these forums but thought it deserved a thread of its own.
Basically I'm asking, do Christians see Jesus and Biblical images like angels, Buddhists see Buddha, Hindus Krishna, Atheists just a bright guiding light, etc and are there any studies which back this up with statistics.
I ask this after reading a friend's blog about one of the latest, what I gather are now being called 'Heaven Tourist' books, from a fundamentalist Christian family.
I have commented below this blog on whether there is some moralistic filter system to give individuals the religious symbols that might benefit their progress but maybe not those which don't.
Here's the blog which led to my question.

I don't necessarily think so, I think there is a complex relationship between the experient, and their relatives, and third parties they come onto contact with during their NDE - even the country they are in etc.

Max, would you like to expand on this a little?
Do you mean if the relatives are religious they would reflect that to the experient?
How would a country affect the type of NDE?

Well it all looks a bit random and mixed up nowadays... for example Nancy Bush in the USA saw clicking, ying yang symbols without knowing what they were... Far later she came across them for the first time... but her dead father had been out in the Far East IIRC Korea doing missionary work, and we also don't know whether perhaps one or more of the doctors/nurses present was foreign?

Early recorded experiences seem more in their place culturally... but nowadays it doesn't seem so easy... People move around the world much easier.... both experients, and the doctors and medical teams who attend them come from all over the place.

Look at that Maori study...

or some newer NDE's from Japan...

When we read about NDE's we have very little background information on the experient... Japanese father, European mother, experient classed as American now living in the USA, and nobody is collecting third party data... Like being attended to by a Chinese doctor,as well as Korean and AfroAmerican nursing staff etc...

Hmmm it's a good question - does any NDEr see symbols or figures of a religion that they are ignorant of but later come to know?

I know people claim this has happened while under the influence of psychedelics - Gabriel Roberts apparently had a vision of the Buddhist(?) goddess Tara before knowing who she was, and I believe Grof mentioned someone who had seen Hebrew letters made of fire while on LSD before knowing what they meant?
