Post Mortem Consciousness.

Many folks on this forum are convinced the NDE is proof that life in some form continues post mortem, but unless I've missed it I've not seen anyone here consider out loud for how long life continues. Why don't you? Since folks are that convinced wondering for how long is the next question.

So... When did they let you back in? What will happen to the socks now?
That's a question that should be important to you. Suppose it lasts only moments?

Alex said, no one is permanently banned. Besides I wasn't banned. I just took time off because my wife of 36 years died suddenly from terminal cancer.

Indefinitely. One has to integrate the various sources of information such as reincarnation to name but one example.

Let's leave complicating other beliefs out because that doesn't directly pertain to the question? Stick to what the NDE experience strongly suggests to some.

Indefinitely is a long time, but the Universe is running down like a battery that's being used up. How is this known? It's known from the light we can see with our telescopes that was comes from galaxies billions of light years away. We can see those young galaxies bursting with star formation yet galaxies that are closer and we know are older show less energetic star formation. Trillions of years into the future stars will not be made and the ones still around namely red dwarf stars will eventually die out. The future of the Universe is a bleak one ending in a "Heat Death" according to current thinking. Anyway consider if you can if you will be here trillions and more years into the future?

Shit Steve! So sorry to hear that! My thoughts are with you!

How awful. Welcome back Steve.

There is always life. There will always be various relative rates of change. Identity changes too - slowly while we live and possibly rapidly at death.

The death of the universe will come in a flash - the blink of an eye. When the last eye blinks shut no one will perceive within relative time the eons to heat death ultimately resulting in nothing which is identical to everything and therefore the next Big Bang - a flash of heat.

If you take NDEs as proof of afterlife it would suggest that claims about what will happen trillions of years from now would be more of an overreach than they are now.

As for how long, again if people are meeting loved ones from long ago it would also suggest that the soul doesn't just fade away shortly after death.

Thus there would seem to be little reason to think the soul perishes later, and a variety of reasons to think it continues to exist.

Such reasons as? Let's not assume other views of post mortem beliefs are real simply to keep this topic from getting complicated.

I'm sorry to hear that. That's really tough no matter what you believe or don't......

I don't think I've ever replied to one of your posts more than a couple of times but are you open to the possibility of survival now ?

No more or less than I was previously.
Have you today or in the past thought about the question asked?

Yes, I have thought about it and I believe it goes on forever (reincarnation) ...I know I've been here before anyway (which I'm not going into). Even if you don't believe in survival, your wife will certainly have had the perception that she was surviving (that is going somewhere else and meeting deceased relatives because that's what happens and it's well documented. I'm not offering that as compensation though because you want your wife with you naturally.

Consider Jonjoe McFadden's opinion on consciousness as information patterns in EM fields:

Does the cemi field survive after death?

mmm an interesting question. My hypothesis is that conciousness is the experience of information, from the inside. There is a postulate in physics that information is neither created or detroyed – the conservation of information ‘law’. It is however just a postulate, nobody has ever proved it. But, if true, it would suggest that awareness (associated with that information) – in some form – might survive death.

There's also the rest of post mortem research (reincarnation, mediumship, ghosts, etc). But as you say that's a separate discussion, I just mean that if one accepts NDEs as definitive proof other research that's suggestive would provide more confidence.

I think the evidence for reincarnation is stronger, and gives a better overall context of what may be occurring. Some people, often children, also report memories and awareness of "in between" lives (either spontaneously or under hypnosis, such as selecting parents, etc). I think that combined with NDE experiences, especially if veridical, give a much better picture than the NDE alone.

Cheers,
Bill
