This is a thread for the different programs people have come across for teaching things like how to have an OBE, how to do magic, how to lucid dream etc.

Please contribute courses/programs or books, especially those that you've tried yourself!

A completely free magic school by Josephine McCarthy and Frater Acher, stripped of obscurantism and pretension. I like this course a lot and recommend it.
https://www.quareia.com/

The curriculum of Quareia takes a magical apprentice from the beginning of magic to the level of adeptship and beyond. The course has no superfluous text; there is no dressing, no padding – everything is in its place and everything within the course has a good reason to be there. The modules are specifically designed to link into each other, and are not stand alone study modules. If you do not study them in sequence and do not do the practical work, you will not gain the skills and knowledge necessary to cope with and understand the adept work. Following the lessons in sequence gives you the skills and foundation to develop properly as a magician.

There are no teachers: the course is designed specifically for lone exploration, experience and study. There is no one to do the work for you, or to break it down in to easy bits, no study buddies, and also no teachers to take advantage of the student or play power games with them. The success of the Quareia student comes from hard work/personal application, inner contact, and the necessary study work. It is a very old way of teaching and completely side steps all of the degeneracy that magical schools can become entangled in.

Quareia teaches the skills that underpin many different forms of magic. Rather than just teaching a specific magical style, through learning the structural underlying techniques, forms and skills, and their various cultural, magical, and at times religious expressions from different cultures, the Quareia magician will be able to access any form of magic and understand it.

The methods, information and techniques in the course enable the magician to engage any form of magic and work with it appropriately with the full knowledge of how that magic works, why it works and what is behind it. It also starts to guide the magician along the mystical path, a path that reaches beyond religions and faith, and one where the adept moves into mystical union with the universe around them.

The curriculum of Quareia goes into great practical and technical depth of all magical technique, and for the most part is magical education that does not appear in any books, anywhere. This is the training that is normally conducted behind closed doors. The training is rooted in ancient magical traditions from a modern perspective, and is designed in absolute detail to ensure a complete and balanced training.

The construction and presentation of the course, and the fact that it is free and will remain free, ensures that anyone who wishes to commit the time, focus and energy to the work will be able to do it. It will not be hijacked, will not become commercial, and will not become something exclusive. It self-filters, self protects and has no alignment to any school, any lodge or any magical organization in the world: it is itself and will remain so. Various magical, mystical and religious systems are looked at, and some are worked with, so that the student learns the base mechanics from looking at a structure from within, in order to gain true understanding and skill.

There are some members on this forum who prefer to analyze scientific studies on NDE's, OBE's, ESP, mediumistic channeling etc. and do philosophy, without actually engaging in practices that can initiate this experiences, a fact which I find puzzling, but to each his own. Here is my contribution to this thread:

OBE's: Robert Monroe method(online)
William Buhlman's Target technique(also online, been using it for a week, no progress, will associate it with affirmations)
Robert Bruce inner energy movements and meditation: his methods combine deep meditation before falling asleep and energy work:my personalized program involves meditating in the morning for one hour or so focusing on my breath and abdomen movements(good books on meditation are Mindfulness in Plain English by Gunaratana and especially The Mind Illuminated by Culadasa John Yates) combined with QiGong practice in the afternoon for ideally 20 minutes( I use the postures from Lam Kam Chuen's Way of Energy, currently looking into Embryonic Breathing and Small Circulation meditation to supplement my practice).
Frederick Aardema's vigil method: Involves holding to an anchor in order to not fall asleep, haven't tried it yet.
Thomas Yuschack's book on the pharmacological induction of LD's and OBE's: Basically Galantamine + other chemicals after 4-5 hours of sleep(had the only 2 OBE's of my life using this method).

Will follow up with some other recommendations after I sift through my library more thoroughly.

With the right meditation technique, you don't need drugs.

Sure, but it can massively increase the chances of having an OBE. I've grown frustrated with doing several 4+ hour meditations for years where nothing ends up happening and now use lucid dreaming as an entry point into the OBE state. I think its a problem where I can't fully relax, since I read so much politics it makes sense that would be where my problem lies, I'm unwilling to make the lifestyle change though. I may have to soon however because my body seems to be growing a tolerance towards galantamine. Galantamine has some rather pleasant memory enhancing effects I do like so I'll be taking it for that anyways, as its used to treat alzheimers patients (not that I have that, my memory isnt great though)

Meditation is not intended to do anything, at least that's what I read from older gurus, they say sit in peace zen that's all

Meditation just means thinking in english, theres zillions of different ways to think. When many gurus say meditation is just sitting and doing nothing they're equating their culture/religions version of meditation with everyone elses.
