Joe Martino Sees a Consciousness Shift… And That’s a Good Thing |316|
by Alex Tsakiris | May 24 | Consciousness Science

Joe Martino started Collective-Evolution to challenge the status quo, raise consciousness and make the world better. Easy, right?

Are we experiencing a shift in consciousness, or just seeing what we want to see? Is there any difference? These are some of the topics I cover in my interview with Joe Martino, founder of website and aspiring social movement Collective-Evolution:

Alex Tsakiris: I don’t see many other people threading this path the way [Collective-Evolution] does. On one hand, you’re open and honest about some of the problems, and the enormity of the problems we face, and how they sometimes seem insurmountable both on a personal level and at a societal/political level. But at the same time you seem to have a real spirit of having a genuine sense of hope about the future and hope about this consciousness shift.

Joe Martino: … ultimately what you’re looking at is how is shifting consciousness–how is that [shift in consciousness] making an impact on the decisions and directions we choose to take on a daily basis? Whether that be an inventor who shifts their consciousness or perception — I hate to make it sound mystical [so let’s say] they shift their perception on something — suddenly they say, okay, now I can create something that isn’t so harmful; or doesn’t destroy this while it’s doing that. So now they’re seeing things in a more holistic sense. To me, that’s a shift in consciousness where their actions are now in unison with seeing the world in a different way. It’s very similar to a person who has a perception shift towards another culture and suddenly they’re more open and willing to accept other cultures. Now you see levels of peace and cooperation happening between those two cultures. Again, that’s another shift in consciousness.

One could say the same for the (apparently) increasing amount of ultra talented young musician that seem to appear like mushrooms all over the place.
Couldn't it be that we're massively more connected than say, 15-20 years ago, and we're seeing a lot more of whatever we're interested in? Mainly because we've been increasingly flooded with information. Information that is filtered based on our interests and likings, courtesy of the internet 2.0.

As for the consciousness shift... I am a pessimist, I see humanity repeating the same, basic terrible mistakes over and over again. The internet is a good mirror of our psyche... we run massive data centers eating power like big cities to celebrate our egos and sometimes also exchange useful information :D

Interesting bits of knowledge float among petabytes of selfies, hateful comments directed at strangers, and porn. :) If aliens were to land on this earth they could quickly get a sense of what's in our mind... not a pretty picture, I fear.

Maybe there is a grand cosmic evolution where souls are graduating and moving to better worlds while less experienced ones come here to train... So to the untrained eye it may all seem hopeless: we just never learn, while in truth we do and move to "higher ground" (to quote Mr. Wonder), after many reincarnations.

This I don't know... the evidence, if any, seems very scarce.

Steven Pinker gave an interesting presentation at TED, where he argues that violence is in decline from Biblical times to the present... and he might be right:

At least in some parts of the world we have built better societies with less violence and better quality of life. Althogh, I am not sure how many wars from ancient times would be necessary to compete with WWI and II...

Ok, end of rambling :) I am off to listening to the actual episode. More later...

OK, I skipped chunks of that ,but it really didn't seem to amount to much :( Alex, I wonder if you had expected more from this guy - or am I just an old fogey who doesn't appreciate such stuff?

The download for this seems to be the Jeffery Martin interview, #267, though the streaming version seems OK. Anyhow, just thought I'd mention that before listening to the streaming version.

Interesting interview, I do think it's interesting to track where the youth culture is heading. Seems to be shifting away from top down authority when it comes to matters of consciousness which only makes sense.

Gordon White had an amusing quip where he noted Dawkins was less a scientist now than some kook ranting on Twitter. I asked one twenty year old who actually leans toward atheism - though not the missionary kind - and he had no idea who Dawkins was. One person to be sure but in general in my discussions with younger people it seems to me there's been a shift toward the kind of open mindedness Collective Evolution talks about.

As I've said before, Psi research going mainstream in 10-15 years wouldn't surprise me...though if pressed I'm willing to go 15-25 years. :)

On the politics, my understanding is Sanders is millions of votes behind + behind in pledged delegates? I'd agree there does seem to be issues of bias on the part of the Dem party machine + corporate media to shut him out - see a similar behavior toward Ron Paul by media + Republicans - but AFAIK he isn't losing simply because Hilary is behind on super delegates

Are we experiencing a shift in consciousness right now?

We're always experiencing a shift in consciousness. The question is: to what degree is the source of this shift anthropogenic and is it catastrophic? And how rare or commonplace is the present anthropogenic catastrophic consciousness change in Earth's long and varied history? I mean we think we're special now but the Pyramids are melting... I propose a consciousness tax on every kilobyte of information that does not assist in the upward spiral of consciousness change (trolling, porn, etc) and consciousness credits for everyone who improves the collective consciousness (all of us here at Skeptiko will get rich!).

Have this page liked on my facebook. I have wakingtimes liked on my facebook page as well. I was reading a interesting article on there, I didn't believe it well cause it had no evidence, but it brought up some interesting points. 1 point was reincarnation is a trap.....2 there are different dimensions out there with false light, and when we pass those "angels" and "family members" are really dimensional beings trying to trap you back in to the reincarnation cycle to feed off your energy. It said avoid the light and the only light you should follow is the one inside you

Well let's just look at his reply to Alex that is highlighted at the top of the podcast page:

Can anyone make a case that that isn't pure waffle? I mean, I don't know if there is a consciousness shift going on, and I agree that is an interesting question - but feel the banality of that quote! Do we really want to say that every time someone makes a useful invention that lowers the harm of something - e.g. lead-free gasoline - that is a sign of a universal consciousness shift?

Not funny? Too soon? Too soon. :-/

Well anyway... I think consciousness is always changing a bit. It is a musical act.

We could say that the collective consciousness evolution is a pattern overlay feedback loop. Knowledge and culture are abstracted and extrapolated representations of personal experiences that form patterns which we overlay upon the objective world to useful effect. The patterns affect how we interact with and shape and change the external world. The changing external world affects our knowledge and culture which affects our pattern overlay upon the external world. Round and round it goes until a harmonic or low free energy state is achieved where the pattern overlay and the external world shaping efforts stabilize for a period of time - a golden age. The golden ratio will probably hiding in the consciousness pattern somewhere.

In any vibrating system if you change the energy input or the damping or wavelength or various other factors you create new nodes or harmonics or possibly create dangerous resonances that could shake the whole thing apart.

Human history was cycling along for the last few thousand years based on one set of parameters. Simultaneous and recursive changes to internal and external worlds (oil, technology, enlightenment, Internet, Liberty, etc) have changed the parameters of this vibrating system and it is yet to be seen whether we are approaching a dangerous resonance that threatens to shake the system apart (WWIII / collapse) sending us back to the old patterns or whether things will settle into a new relatively stable harmonic.

Sorry, but my opinion is this is nonsense (no offense meant). As an experiencer (of one NDE and several OBE's) I can say that any notion based on fear (which this one is) is nonsense.

Isn't that the idea behind both morphic fields and the human potential movement? That these achievements are not just success for the individual but pushing humanity forward?

But, yeah, I think this kind of thing will sound a bit...over-ripe to us Skeptiko regulars as we've been around the bend with a lot of sophisticated ideas and beliefs. But I think for the larger populace these ideas are incredibly novel and exciting?

I mean for many people it's a choice between the religion they grew up with, conversion to another traditional faith, agnosticism, and atheism. [Actually the conversion thing isn't necessarily an option, I suspect many people stay in the faith for family's sake.]

right, but what I found refreshing about Joe is using the same data set to come to a completely different conclusion -- just look up!

I'm impressed with what Joe has done with CE. I think he's bringing a unique twist on the consciousness shift idea by squarely addressing the really bad stuff like 9/11... and still remaining positive.

pls explain.

Yesterday, when I clicked the link to download the podcast, the one that was actually downloaded was Jeffery Martin's #267 interview rather than the #316 Joe Martino interview, and I had to listen to the #316 streamed instead. Today, however, this seems to have righted itself. No idea what happened!

The delegate gap is not as wide as the MSM is trying to convey, especially with big Cali still pending. I doubt that he will be elected directly while he is battling the establishment + the MSM, but he is close to getting a contested convention where everything could Happen because... Pledged delegated don't count, they could shift at any moment until July and, even, in the convention itself. They were, afterall, created to go over the popular vote if the frontrunner suddenly became a hindrance to winning November or was involved in something serious (like, say, an indictment). The MSM has been counting them towards Clinton's tally to try and take the fight out of the independents, but that is clearly faililing since her numbers vs. Trump keep dropping.

I see Sanders and Trump as two -radically different, yet more similar than expected- sides of the same coin. Both represent an open challenge to the establishment and both have been able to shrug the criticism of political heavyweights without batting an eye. Even if neither is elected, their revolution already won. The independents have won and they are the living representation of the shift being discussed, at least within politics.

I think it does represent some change but I think the Empire will strike back over time...perhaps through the very supposed adherents to revolution.

I agree it was food for thought, might post the article when I have time
