Mind/Body connection on steroids

Just posted this link in another discussion in the old forums, and thought to add it here too.
You may be already familiar with daredevil Wim Hof, aka the "Ice Man", who has demonstrated all sorts of crazy feats using his meditation techniques.

Here's one more crazy thing he has attempted, which is to modulate his own immune system against a bacterial attack, under controlled conditions.

Once again the results are pretty much out of this world.
I want to learn that! :)

Enjoy

Bucky, nowadays Wim Hof is training others to withstand the cold using his focused breathing system and meditation. After a few weeks of training he leads them up Mt. Sněžka in the Czech Republic (elevation: 5259+ feet) in shorts and in the middle of winter:

Inside the Superhuman World of the Iceman

Wim Hof first caught the attention of scientists when he proved he was able to use meditation to stay submerged in ice for 1 hour and 53 minutes without his core body temperature changing. Since then, he’s climbed Mount Everest in his shorts, resisted altitude sickness, completed a marathon in the Namib Desert with no water and proven under a laboratory setting that he’s able to influence his autonomic nervous system and immune system at will.

Almost everything Wim has done was previously thought to be impossible - but he’s not a freak of nature.

To demonstrate that any human can learn his methods, Wim offered to teach Matt Shea and Daisy-May Hudson to climb a freezing cold mountain in their shorts without getting cold. But when Matt and Daisy signed up for the training, they had no idea that the so-called Iceman was planning to lead them on a psychedelic journey across Europe that circled the chasm between science, spirituality and mystery.

What a cool guy.

I think this study points to a similar conclusion - that we can affect our immune system by meditating:

I, myself, have tried several times to get well by meditating when feeling early symptoms of a cold. I usually lay down, breathe deeply and think/feel acceptance and self affirmation. I'd say that about half of the times that I have tried, the symptoms have disappeared within one or two minutes.
