New book from Eben Alexander

Alexander cites the placebo effect as one evidence of "mind over matter" which characterizes healing through mental properties. Yes, but most drug trials attempt to phase out the placebo effect by randomly giving water pills to those who participate. It's the energy from the expectant mindset & positive vibes which contribute to the healing.

I don't know what you mean - can you elaborate? I think Alexander's point is that the placebo effect illustrates that the mind can be used to cure at least some illnesses. The way the drug companies try to cancel the effect out in trials, is irrelevant. Far more research should be going into maximising the placebo effect.
