Peer review

Peer review is considered by many as part, or almost part, of the scientific method, viewed as a process that helps ascertain validity and/or accuracy.

My contention is that peer review is not scientific but social. The idea that agreement conveys actuality. It can at times help in the ways stated above but more often it either neutral or reinforces invalid an/or inaccurate conclusions.
