I'm curious where did you get the information about this "second death" concept, since in all my reading of spiritual material I only once read about soul dissolution in Campbell's TOE trilogy?

IIRC Tibetan Buddhism has the 7 bardo (transition) bodies that are shed at each transitional stage. I remember reading a more authoritative piece on this in 'the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. Though the wiki link says 6, I remember there being 7 from the book I linked.
