    Why is "meaning" good?

I'm not dogmatically against that idea and I used to lean that way myself, at least when I first started researching the implications of the NDE. But I would need a reason for it. Given eternity, I can't imagine a single reason to be in a hurry regarding anything, not even leveling up this love...

    Why is "meaning" good?

Well yes, but there isn't some kind of reward for being loving in the afterlife outside of your own higher self's appreciation for it. Or let's put it this way instead: There is no rush to be loving. We are living in eternity, and whatever loving vibration we don't ascend to in this lifetime...

    Why is "meaning" good?

First of all, I just want to say that I sympathize with your post, Mediochre. Many proponents on this forum (or spiritual people in general) are indeed guilty of thinking that the afterlife hypothesis implies that there's meaning in the moral restriction kind of way. In other words, here's how...

    Death Penalty and the Afterlife

Well, from a rational perspective it absolutely should. We kill people because we want to punish them, and since we view death as something undesirable. But the NDE evidence paints an entirely different picture of death altogether. I wouldn't even call it the death penalty, but rather the death...

Is there such a thing as soul death?

No. All of eternity is our playground, and we can do whatever we want forever. Want to be a dark lord like Sauron or Ba'alzamon for thousands of years at a time for trillions upon trillions of incarnations? Go for it! There is nothing we can ever do to jeopardize our spot in eternity, and...

Man has NDE, told not his time, then dies for real 2 minutes later

Thanks! I scanned their site, and I still couldn't find the actual video though :/

Man has NDE, told not his time, then dies for real 2 minutes later

Interesting video, thank you. At 3:33 in the video, you can see a quick glance of Sam Parnia giving a TEDx talk called "Demystifying Death". I've tried googling it but I can't find this talk online anywhere. Anyone else has a clue where to find it? I'd very much like to see it.

Drawing conclusions from NDEs: it's all good or striving for perfection?

Thanks! I love interviews with Nanci, and it's great to h ear a new fresh one. I have a lovely hour in front of me :)

Drawing conclusions from NDEs: it's all good or striving for perfection?

I agree with you that to the extent that cancer and other physical suffering brings about anxieties and other mental suffering (like depression) it is indeed horrible, but that just reinforces the point I was making rather than disproving it. Thanks a lot! <3

Drawing conclusions from NDEs: it's all good or striving for perfection?

I don't agree with what she's saying here 100%, since it clashes with what many other NDErs and in particular the one I consider the deepest NDEr ever (you know who I'm talking about :D ) has to say on the issue, that part of the purpose of life is to grow in our ability to love and joyously...

    Puzzling NDE questions

His stated reasons were that someone could get the impression that they should commit suicide unless everyone here condemned the idea, and that they could trace this back to this forum and "that would be far worse PR for this forum than the endless rantings of the pseudo-skeptics ever could be"...

    Puzzling NDE questions

That's interesting, because the last time this was discussed on this forum I was banned by Andrew Paquette for drawing the conclusion that suicide is completely and unconditionally OK in light of what NDErs are reporting, and that it's also consistent with how a rational and emotionally mature...

Mod+ 279. SIMON GREEN ON PLANT MEDICINE AND PLANT SPIRITS

I don't even think that takes it far enough. Ayahuasca is in my mind *the* experience anyone can and should have, I think it should be a part of mandatory schooling for every citizen of a rational and mature society. It's the only substance which feels like the brain was actually made for taking...
