While the article implies many scientists are skeptical (and for good reason), it is real. I just don't know how useful it will be for testing drugs, etc to try to treat disease. The brain is the size of a pencil eraser, and does not have a blood supply, so can't yet be grown any bigger. Drugs given orally need to enter the blood stream and then the brain (through the blood brain barrier). Plus, this brain in a dish is in isolation from the rest of the body. I guess we'll see how useful it will be. This is not yet published data but it is extremely interesting!
